Tuesday Evenings
Drawing - Back To Basics

The next 10 week term starts : January 14th 2014
Day : Tuesday
Time : 7pm to 9pm

This course is designed to equip students with some fundamental drawing skills. Drawing is not only a wonderful means of creative expression in itself, it is the scaffolding of any representational painting. If your initial under-drawing is successful the rest of the painting flows relatively easily.

Whether you are a complete beginner or you are feeling the need to rewind and focus on your drawing skills from scratch, this course is designed to help you negotiate and, or, revisit the fundamental skills and tools involved in producing a competent drawing.

You will come away with the confidence that comes with knowing 'how it's done', combined with applying the 'tricks of the trade' and practising them, making them your own, and gradually developing your personal style.

We will look at the process of drawing through a variety of popular subject matter, such as faces, figures, still-life objects and animals. We will also explore the use of not only pencil, but charcoal and pastels in drawing.

Course Outline

Introduction to drawing tools, grounds & techniques; Basic shapes, Measured Drawing; Scaling and Grids; Perspective; Figures; Faces, lines and shading.

Venue : Studio7T, side entrance of 70 Royal Parade, Eastbourne BN22 7AQ. Opposite the Redoubt Fortress.
